Wake Up and Go

Every weekend I have a dilemma, I can either stay home or go somewhere. When I stay home, I tend to mindlessly wander around the internet. There are days where I spent endless hours on the web, four hours would pass by and I wouldn’t even notice. Despite the amount of information I go through, checking emails, checking social media, and other distractions, it has never actually transpired to meaningful action. I wasn’t productive, I wasn’t creative, and I certainly did not better myself or the world. It’s much easier to sit comfortably at home at a screen than to plan a trip, pack, and drive seven hours to a potentially interesting location. At the end of the day, there is only once choice that provides fulfillment.

The moment I step out into the world, I realize there’s beauty all around. Oh there’s sunrise? Wow, the moon is setting! The clouds are looking epic for sunset. There are even times when I simply walked outside my house and realized, the waves are good today! Why am I not out there?! It’s always epic somewhere, but you’ll never see it if you sit in front a computer.

I ask myself, what drives creativity? An open mind, open heart, and constantly pushing beyond your comfort zone. Just by simply being outside in the world, by being present, I meet new people, make new friends, find new sources of inspiration, realize the world isn’t a terrible and chaotic as it seems, and of course come back with epic photos for a lifetime. I almost always return from a trip with a new feeling of invigoration.

The car is loaded up the night before. There are no expectations other than have a good time and see what you discover. Just wake up and go, adventure awaits.
