Tide Pools πŸ”Ž

Sponge Cavern. Sonoma, California (2023)

When I was in elementary school, there was an event night where we were supposed to dress up as what we wanted to be when we grew up. When everyone else was dressed as obvious professions (e.g. doctors, firefighters), I showed up with a light blue collared shirt, shorts, sandals, and a white bucket with my favorite bedside stuffed animals inside: a large stingray, a dolphin, and lobsters. Β Some of my classmates and even my teacher were confused and asked what was I supposed to be. A fisherman? 🧐 I had to explain that I was a marine biologist. I don’t know πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. What is a marine biologist supposed to look like?Β

Unfortunately, 15 years later, my career path did not follow my grade school dreams, but my desire to study and learn marine biology is still inherently within me. This gallery is dedicated to those dreams, a place to log my many hours and counting spent in the intertidal zone, reinvigorating the youth in me, and reaffirming my love for the ocean and all the little creatures that call it home.Β
