Be Prepared For Anything
During my cultural excursion to Nicaragua with Global Glimpse, I remember one afternoon when our group was about to leave our hostel and walk the streets of Leon and return after dark.ย
I asked one of our group mentors: What should I bring? What clothes and shoes should I wear? Is it going to be hot in the late afternoon? Is it going to rain in the evening? How far are we going to have to walk? How long are we going to be out there for?
She told me โbe prepared for anythingโ.
With the tropical climate, it was hard to predict whether it was going to be warm and sunny or a sudden torrential downpour given the intermittent thunderstorms. We also had no detailed itinerary and schedule.
I now carry that mentality not only on my travels but in life.
Iโm prepared for anything. Iโm prepared for desert heat and freezing temps. Iโm prepared if my car breaks down or gets stuck. Iโm prepared if both my credit cards are declined. Iโm prepared with food and water for multiple days in case I am unable to return home due to a catastrophic event.ย
Learning how to be prepared for anything, learning how to travel, learning to how be resourceful, learning how to to pack the essentials, is building resiliency and knowing how to survive completely on your own.ย
