❄️ Winter Wonderland ❄️
Sierra Nevada
One of my annual missions is to get some aerial images of frozen lakes. I found this lake on Google Maps but had no idea what it would look like after a winter storm. We stopped at the side of the lake to have lunch. As I sent the drone up to scope around, I noticed there was these cool circles on the surface of the lake with all sorts of different shapes and textures. No one would have noticed this incredible sight just looking from the highway.
There was a big snowstorm the day before, I was anxiously waiting on updates on road conditions hoping the main highway would be cleared. At the first hint of snow before gaining altitude, we encountered frozen asphalt. My heart dropped as we slid down a small incline before coming to a stop. We quickly put snow chains on our car. As we gained elevation, the surroundings were covered more and more with snow. I’ve never seen snow in such perfect form, doesn’t look like it’s been touched by a fly. We didn’t have a destination in mind, so we leisurely drove through the mountains, stopping multiple times to check out the landscape. There’s no better way to spend a day in December.
